In 2017, the Wolverine Legacy Fund was founded to award monetary grants to support and enhance Windermere High School’s (WHS) Academics, Arts, and Athletics. After bringing over $60,000 in donations to WHS, our board launched a new organization with the launch of Legacy Events for Education!
Legacy Events for Education is a non-profit organization founded to reward the outstanding efforts of students and teachers at local public high schools, and provide financial support in areas not otherwise funded by Orange County Public Schools. Our mission is to provide scholarships and grants in the areas of arts, academics and athletics to reward exemplary efforts of students and teachers both on campus and in the community. We believe it is important to encourage involvement and making a difference in our local communities. Our motto is that “it’s not what you take from the world, it’s what you leave behind”.
The Leave a Legacy college scholarship recognizes students for exceptional community volunteerism. Our Teacher Nominated college scholarship is awarded to students who exceed expectations in non-academic efforts. Both scholarships are awarded to students applying to technical, 2-year and 4-year programs. In addition, Legacy provides a parent class, College Entrance Parent Academy, reviewing the complexities of the college entrance process and the all the different options and requirements for costly financial aid.
Legacy funds these efforts through the production of community fundraising events like the Central Florida Chili Cookoff and the Holiday Market at Hamlin as well as individual gifts from local benefactors like you.
